Become licensed to teach our two-day ED Triage Systematics Course to the emergency department employees of your hospital or hospital system by successfully completing the Triage Specialist Course: Comprehensive Training for the Triage Educator.
About the Course
This is an intensive five-day course that engages participants in the study of triage and ED processes. Classes are all day, with group study and discussion in the evenings. The last day is devoted to testing.
The course is strictly limited to 14 participants. The cost is $7200.00 per person. Meals and lodging (single occupancy) are included. Apply now.
It is expected that the nurse being considered for the Triage Specialist Course is a tenured team member and supports managers and administrators, is willing and capable of leading change initiative for the emergency department processes and patient throughput, and is committed to the patient population served by that emergency department.
The applicant nurse need NOT be an educator in order to attend the Triage Specialist Course, but they will be a Triage First-trained Triage Educator and Resource Nurse when they complete it!
Minimum Requirements
- RN
- 2 Years experience in ED
- 18 months triage experience
- Letter of recommendation from supervisor (nurse manager or higher)
Acceptance is granted by a points system. Advanced certifications are a plus. Attendance of our ED Triage Systematics is a definite positive.
Course Components
Our Triage Specialist Course is designed to produce two things:
- a Triage Resource Nurse
- a Triage Educator with a two-year license (renewable) to present our two-day Comprehensive Emergency Department
Triage Course to all employees of their ED.
The course of instruction, conducted over a five-day period, shall include (but is not limited to) the following:
- Public speaking and presentation techniques
- Logistics and administration of the ED Triage: Comprehensive Course
- Triage concepts and processes
- Resource nurse and process improvements
- Caregiver and patient satisfaction
- Use of modified Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS) or Emergency Severity Index (ESI)
- Systematic triage assessment
- Special patient situations: anger, critically ill or injured, psychiatric, victims of abuse
- Clinical expertise
- Resource nurse and triage preceptors
- Change Agent and Implementation strategies
- Facility-specific education and open forum
- Content Application sessions
- Study Group sessions
- Exams to test mastery of the course content
What’s Included?
Upon successful completion of the Triage Specialist Course, the Triage Educator will receive:
- Twenty-four (24) months of restricted license to present the Triage Frst ED Triage Systematics workshop to all facility employees. (License renewable for successive 12 month terms - $1000)
- A digital copy of instruction materials and forms, a PowerPoint presentation of the ED Triage Systematics workshop,, the Lecture Notes
with periodic updates, and the participant workbook master copy
- Live onsite educator support and audits as needed (need determined by Triage First)
- Educator Support (email or call-in) – support available during standard workdays, Monday thru Friday, 0900-1700
Eastern Standard Time
The Triage Educator will be presenting the ED Triage Systematics workshop to employees in their facility or system. There will be a small fee for each participant the Triage Educator presents the Course to at their facility or system. In order to make that experience as complete and seamless as possible:
- Each participant completing the ED Triage Systematics workshoip will have access
to the corresponding Triage First online courses. Triage First will assign a User Identification Number and Password for each
registered participant
- The Triage Educator will have a master copy of the Course workbook in order to reproduce one workbook for each participant
- Each participant will be able to print out their Contact Hours certificate after successfully completing each segment of the course
- Call-in support during standard workdays, Monday thru Friday, 0900-1700 Eastern Standard Time, will be available to all
participants and educators
