Triage First Webinars
The Comprehensive Emergency Department Triage Course® Patient Safety Through Managing Triage and Patient Throughput. The complete course is now an interactive live webinar. Here is the information you may need when considering this course:
Continuing Education. Over 21 continuing education hours will be awarded once all segments of the course are successfully completed and evaluations submitted. Successful completion is a minimum score of 80% on the post-test. Post-test may be accessed a second time in the event less than 80% is scored on first attempt. Please keep in mind that this is a competency-based course.
Registrations. This Course is comprehensive and holistic, therefore registrations are for the entire course. Each live webinar presentation will be recorded and archived. If any module is missed for any reason the registered participant will be able to access the archived presentation when it becomes available (usually within just a couple of hours). Registered participants may have reviews of any archived module prior to the program’s expiration date and/or prior the online post-test. Each module review is tracked and registered at the time the archive is accessed and will be logged as a review whether the review is partially or fully complete. Only registered users are permitted to access the archive, and the archive files cannot be shared.
Acuity Scale. At the time of registration you must specify which acuity scale is in use by your department, or the one you intend to use, either the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) or the modified version of the Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS).
Course Duration. The course will run for five weeks, always on a Wednesday and a Thursday with each module approximately two hours in length, beginning at the times posted on the Registration page. An example of how the dates work is as follows:
For example, the October 6, 2010 12:00 p.m. sessions will meet from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) - on each Wednesday and Thursday beginning October 6, with the last session on November 3, 2010.
The course is followed by an online post-test and two standalone online modules that may be accessed for up to ninety days following the program expiration date. The post-test will be available for 60 days after the course expiration date.
The Standalone Online Modules. These modules are taken separately at triagecourses.com, using your webinar login ID. The password will be provided toward the end of the webinar portion of the Course. The modules train caregivers in the proper use of the modified Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS) or the Emergency Severity Index (ESI). This training includes nuanced features of the scales that instruct the caregiver on how to assign the appropriate acuity (also includes multiple case presentations). Note: All clinical presentations are actual, evidence-based, and require a competent skill level in order to achieve accuracy.
What You Will Need. High speed internet access, either cable or DSL is highly recommended. Telephone access is not required, but computer speakers and/or headphones are. You will need to have Adobe Flash installed in order to view the presentation. At some time prior to the presentation, your browser must be set to allow for pop-ups.
The Course workbook will be posted for download several days prior to each segment of the course, to cover two weeks of lectures. The Course workbook (a total of approximately 200 pages) is in Adobe pdf, and Adobe PDF Reader will be needed in order to view or print the workbook.
Please note: Triage First reserves the right to cancel any webinar and refund the entire registration fee.
